The Ambubachi Mela is one of the most significant and unique annual festivals celebrated in Assam, India. It takes place at the Kamakhya Temple on Nilachal Hill in Guwahati.

Tantric Festival: It's closely associated with Tantric Shakti cult practices prevalent in Eastern India. Many Sadhus, Tantrics, and devotees from all over India and even abroad gather at the temple during this time.

Temple Closure: During the Mela, the Kamakhya Temple remains closed for three days. This period is considered the time when the Goddess undergoes her annual menstrual cycle, and therefore, no formal worship or offerings are made.

Prasad: After the three days of closure, the Goddess is bathed, and rituals are performed to signify her return to her original form. The temple doors reopen, and special prasad (offerings) are distributed, including "Raktavastra" (red cloth) which is believed to be blessed by the Goddess's menstrual flow.
